Anyone Like Me 

Is there anyone out here like me

Underneath this Moab sky

I’ve been through the fiery furnace

Just listen I’ll tell you why

Who painted all this landscape

Carved these petroglyphs I see

Who picked and picked these pictographs

Were they just like me

Is there anyone near Arches

Am I supposed to be

Thinking there is someone out here

Is there anyone like me

I’m not like most I’ll travel

Off the beaten path

I’ll let others sort it out

Let them do the math

I’m not trying to set examples

I just want my time on earth

To be all the things I’m living for

And to be all that it’s worth

These open roads before me

Like my imagination they will branch

But I must be heading back now

To the Sorrel River Ranch

There was no one out here like me

At least out on their own

And with someone I won’t be

Traveling all alone

I’m sure as I keep going

Soon someone will be

And if you are looking to venture out

With anyone like me

The Way It Was

How are you some say

I dream of yesterday

But I can’t go back to how it used to be

It surely seems that way

Wavering in my bed

As night goes drifting through

A bright white full moon hue is shining too

But my thoughts are blue

Nagging in my head

The scenes that I lived through

Thoughts come flooding back just like they used to do

From just the words I said

Memories a song

That keeps playing in my head

Now it’s just that I can always recollect

I’d rather dream instead

What if I complain

I cannot stop the rain

But I sure can wait to see it shine again

Sun through my window pane

I leave behind a door

That left me here before

I recognize the way it closed it was for sure

It was forever more

Did I not belong

In that place I got used to

Is it fate this journey that I’m going through

No matter what I do

Explore

Can you look across a river

To the shores of a distant land

Can you see our world today

Can you really understand

Explore the many canals

Upstream through a salmon nook

Traverse a mountain to see the moon

Then come down and take a look

Can you marvel at deep blue water

Can you preserve that native land

Someone saved that mammal

Scurrying across the sand

Can you visit a historical site

Explore the places I’ve never been

Then you’ll get to where you’ll always be

And you’ll never go back again

Explore the adventure that lives within

The world is a great big place

Despite its enormity it’s where you begin

Within this time and space

Can you dig the soil with bare hands

Revere the smell of earth

Our world is disappearing

Come see it for its worth

Explore the canyons while they last

Bridge the gap of needle to spire

Can you hear the echoes too

Watch a hawk soar higher and higher

Explore this planet everyday

See the sky and all that’s grand

Can you see our world tomorrow

Then you’ll really understand

Dream of Yesterday

Live your life your way

Live your life they say

But if tomorrow isn’t here to stay

Don’t let nightmares cause dismay
