One Hero

It’s been years ago if any
Of the things we won’t forget
There’s one hero just too many
That fall season had beget

It changed of course so many lives
And who could bare the strain
Not everyone who lives survives
When they’ve died inside from pain

But that is just from memory
And thoughts you cannot touch
And for many who sacrificed themselves
One hero just too much

Like today’s clear blue sky afternoon
From a corner of the sky
I see a plane sail effortlessly
From the corner of my eye

It pulls thoughts from my memory
That I have to let get by
Maybe one day I won’t reminisce
But still I have to try

What I see displayed and plenty
So we can’t forget ground zero
All those that were lost it’s sad
Just like one too many hero

Mother’s father’s helping
You know they’re heroes too
Someone help that fireman
Who knows just what to do

Tangled wreckage of solitude
Can someone make a sound
Twisted in a state of grief
And that officer is down

Ten years we let our feelings show
Something we cannot lag
There’s so much more left healing
Under a waving flag

So let’s decide we will be
Each other’s strength to crutch
The pain we feel when we feel the loss
One hero just too much

Beautiful Night

Have you ever held a star
On a quiet night in June
Then sprinkle stardust
On the middle of the moon

Can you sail through a dusk sky
When it’s purple and pink
Or have you just worried
What others would think

What I have to say
I am feeling so right
When I looked at the sky
On this beautiful night

Have you just viewed the world
The way you were told
And that before you die
You just start to grow old

Have you ever beheld
Such a wonderful sight
A warm summer’s evening
A beautiful night

Breathe the summer air
Form shadows in the light
Wrapped in the warmth of darkness
Hugging squeezing so tight

The quiet from the stillness
People all around outside
All the sounds of summer
Come along for the ride

Catch a little moonbeam
Coming down on a slant
That finds the Milky Way
Then a meteor shower rant

Not even the stars
Can stay out of sight
On the verge of falling
On this beautiful night

Stars in the Night

What a night underneath a celestial canopy
Stars sparkle and seem to be hanging from a tree
Knarred branches reaching out so free
Entangled like roots form a tapestry

No need for moonlight in a spring night sky
No misuse of twilight a feast for the eye
Lover’s paradise for some not yet for I
Orion’s belt chastised me still wondering why

So cold in the season time for bride and groom
Still cold what’s the reason still blossoms bloom
Summer is waiting very still in its room
Near the door of last winter that still seems to loom

In the higher region time seems to get lost
Where lower land’s warming here still has some frost
A crescent moon peeks through where two branches cross
And hangs in the balance despite of the cost

I carefully look as I stand in the night
All the stars turning on some blue and some white
They glisten in silence and flashing so bright
Want to wait with them until morning but they’ll be alright

What a night here comes morning to start the day
And the dusting of diamonds is fading away
As this is only the month of May
The stars will come back and for a night they will stay

Morning Star

Who said that morning star
Would shine away
Who set that morning star
Did that today

We need that morning light
No without try trying
But we can’t see the sight
That is now die dying

Where’s the star in your crown
Give back to you
Has fallen down
No wish come true

Toppled your crown
Sent you away
No where to be found
Is that the way

All is lost in a rising sun
Needless to say
Where goes the only one
That’s on it’s way

Who knows how far
For where you went
Oh kingdom come
Or seventh heaven sent

There’s no way to describe
Who took you away
Who came around
Did that today

Where is that morning star
That would shine away
Who set that morning star
Did that today

Firefly

It’s been years and years
When will I see
That glowing neon
That captivates me

Above a hedge
Beyond a tree
Oh what a sight
What fun they’d be

In the darkest of nights
A glimpse of their glow
Where is the firefly
I simply don’t know

Just a blip here and there
Before you and then
Seen further away
But before you again

I would not have thought
As time would go by
Would never have caught
Another firefly

They’re not like another
That buzz in my ear
They shine like no other
Why aren’t they here

Every summer and then
I’d catch some in a jar
But where did they go
Away somewhere far

I know they’re some place
But I won’t say goodbye
I’ll just say so long
To that bright firefly
