Firefly
It’s been years and years
When will I see
That glowing neon
That captivates me
Above a hedge
Beyond a tree
Oh what a sight
What fun they’d be
In the darkest of nights
A glimpse of their glow
Where is the firefly
I simply don’t know
Just a blip here and there
Before you and then
Seen further away
But before you again
I would not have thought
As time would go by
Would never have caught
Another firefly
They’re not like another
That buzz in my ear
They shine like no other
Why aren’t they here
Every summer and then
I’d catch some in a jar
But where did they go
Away somewhere far
I know they’re some place
But I won’t say goodbye
I’ll just say so long
To that bright firefly
